Dr Anne-Marie O'Dwyer's Biography

Dr O'DwyerDr. Anne-Marie O’Dwyer is Consultant in Liaison Psychiatry at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Department of Psychiatry, Trinity College Dublin. She qualified in medicine from the University of Dublin, Trinity College gaining her MRCPI before starting training in psychiatry. She initially trained in Ireland, later moving to The Maudsley Hospital, London and The Institute of Psychiatry, London. She subsequently trained at Cambridge, completed an MD and was appointed Consultant Psychiatrist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Maudsley Hospital.

She returned to set up the Psychological Medicine Service at St. James’s Hospital in 2000. She has a particular interest in psychological aspects of cancer diagnosis and together with Dr. Sonya Collier, Principal Clinical Psychologist, St. James’s Hospital, has set up a dedicated Psycho-Oncology Service.

She has acted as Honorary Secretary of the Liaison Section of the Irish College of Psychiatrist, and Liaison Representative on the Irish Psychiatric Training Committee.
